Din Tai Fung: What to Order for the Best Meal of Your Life

I LOVE dumplings and I know I’m not alone. It’s recently been announced that Valley Fair Mall’s Din Tai Fung, in what’s being referred to as the greatest “dumpling dysphoria” of all time by no one other than me, will no longer be taking reservations! This means that hordes of already desperate dumpling devotees will have to wait a really, really long time to get a table. But let’s not focus on that heartbreak. Instead, let’s skip ahead to the heavenly soup-filled morsels that await you once you do finally get a table.
The menu isn’t huge, but it’s definitely big enough to stump the Din Tai Fung virgins out there when it comes to deciding what to order. Why is ordering well important you ask? Chances are you won’t be able to get into this restaurant again for a while, at least not unless you have tons of free time to dedicate toward standing in a line whose length rivals that of the earth’s distance to the sun, so enjoying the experience is key. I advise skipping drinks (other than water) and dessert so you can make more room for the dumplings.
I give you the ultimate guide to ordering at Din Tai Fung, guaranteed to be so delicious it will ruin all other (lesser) dumpling places for you. Appetizers:
Cucumber Salad
Fried Pork Chop
Soup Dumplings (aka the main event, aka everything that’s ever mattered in life):
